Convo's with my 17 month old...

Me: Should we have biscuits for breakfast?
Ella: No!
Me: What should we have then?
Ella: Candy!

(After biscuits for breakfast)
Me: You're a mess!
Ella: Yep, ummy,nummy mess!

Ella: Owie foot.  Owie foot!
Me: Did you hurt your foot?
Ella: Hehe, no, hehe, trickin!

(After getting out of the shower)
Me: I need my glasses
Ella: Mom can't see!  (I'm pretty sure there was mischief in her eyes when she said it, but I can't be 100% since I couldn't see... ;)

Me: Night, night time
Ella:no, ni ni! *sad face nu? (nurse) *wicked smile...
Yep, that's my Ella!

The other day Ella was gassy while I was putting her in her carseat.  She was so stinky I made up a song for her. (Sung to Toot Sweet from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)
Toot's STINK!
Toot's STINK!
My toot's are so stinky, they smell oh, so BAD!
Now whenever she gasses she laughs and sings 'Toot stink!'

I read Ella a story, finished and said 'The End.' and put her down.  She walked to the edge of the couch and brought it back to me saying 'read story.'  I picker her up and said "You read to me."  She then opened the book and put her finger on the page going back and forth saying, "read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read. The End!"  It was soo stinkin' adorable!!

Stagecoach Days

Today Kira performed at Stagecoach Days, our city was started as just a stagecoach stop so yearly they hold a celebration to commemorate.
Kira did a great job on her performances!  She danced to King of New York, I hadn't seen this dance until the night before since I haven't been to her dance class for a couple weeks and I LOVE it!  I am so impressed with how well the girls did having only started learning this dance 3 weeks ago!

This morning while we were at Rora's dance class we learned that DSPA was doing a hip hop flash mob.  Kira wanted to participate, but didn't know the dance.  The kids had learned the dance over the summer for National Dance Day, but Kira had been unable to learn it with everyone because she had another class at that time.  So over the summer she spent a couple hours one day watching the online video and practicing the dance using only the video as a guide.  Of course she hasn't practiced it since that one day, but she wanted to dance so when we got home from Rora's class I found the dance online and she practiced it.  She had less than 3 hours to learn this dance today!  I am soo impressed that she stuck it out and tried her hardest.  It might not be her best dance, especially since it's hip hop and she has a hard time with the style, but she worked so hard.  After she had been practicing for about 20 minutes she came to me crying saying she didn't want to do the flash mob.  I told her she didn't have, but that she should keep practicing just to see if she changed her mind.  She then broke the dance down and was able to learn it and feel comfortable with it enough to dance it.  She blows my mind with her talent and how hard she works!
For some reason unbeknown to me, this video won't show up to link to on my blog, so if you're interested here is the link  :)

Mattie and Semra came with us...aren't these kids soo adorable!?!

Busyness and Blessings

My life is so busy right now!  Homeschooling seems like a full time job, add in a 18 month old *almost* and a 3 year old and you have a full time job right there.  Then their is the housework and all our out of the house activities.  We have something going on every. single. day of the week.  Most days we have two or three separate activities.  I'm not complaining, just stating facts.  I like to be busy.  It helps keep me from feeling sad.  You see, I'm still suffering from post-partum depression and while it is mild and manageable, when I have time to stay home I tend to get a little blue.  I've always been this way.  BUT I know that it's easy to combat if I am busy. So I stay busy.  I CHOOSE to be as busy as I am.  I could drop my kids off at their activities, but I take such enjoyment knowing that my sacrifices (mostly money) give them such pleasure.
That said, this week has been fall break.  After going non stop since school started I was looking forward to a week of down time.  BUT Sunday I got sick, just a cold, but bad enough of one that I had a hard time focusing on conference.  I was still sick on Monday.  Tuesday I felt almost back to normal, so we spent the day out doing 'special' things.  We went to the library for story time and went shopping in town. (Chandler)  Kira spent a gift card she got for her birthday, I used a See's gift card from mine and we did a Costco run.  It was great and we came home just in time to make dinner.
But Wednesday morning Kira woke up with the same cold/fever that I had had on Sunday and aunt flo decided to come visit me we stayed in.  Thursday she felt just fine but I didn't want to chance it and I was feeling a little anemic.
I could be really bummed that we got sick on our time off and watched way more TV than I care to admit, but I don't.  Eventually our bodies will get sick.  It's just a fact of life and I am thankful that I am able to fend off a cold in a couple of days.  I am thankful that my Heavenly Father knew it would be hard to cancel our plans from last week or next so he helped us to not get sick when we had so much going on, and I am thankful that I had the time to rest and recover without having to rearrange or cancel many of our plans.  I am thankful that I didn't have to focus on teaching Kira any of her lessons and that my girls played nicely to each other.  I am thankful that Kira was able to keep Ella distracted so I could take a bath without anyone around.
Especially I am thankful that my Heavenly Father is watching out for me.  I know it's silly to feel blessed when you're sick, but everything lined up so that I could take a week of downtime and I am grateful that my busy life that brings me and my kids such joy wasn't interrupted.  My Father in Heaven Loves me and this I KNOW is True!

Fire House Field Trip!

Today we went on a field trip to the fire station.  The girls had a blast. The firemen were engaging and kept the kids attention.  It was a lot of fun for everyone.
Poor Ella was afraid, and Mommy went to the other side of the room to take a picture ;)

She seems so tall to me :(

She didn't want to go in the fire truck, but thought it was neat to stand on the front edge.

The homeschool community here is so amazing!

And lastly I can't leave this pic out.  My friend Shawnel was taking it when I photo bombed it...
Looks like Mr. Fireman wasn't to pleased with me. ;)

Kira is still playing the piano, she has memorized the Nutcracker March (easy version) for her recital.
She is reading Anne of Green Gables - early classics (it's to easy for her, but I wouldn't let her read the unabridged version until she read the easy one.)
She still dances  any and everywhere and is on the competition team at DSPA this year.
She loves to create using any materials, especially her imagination.  I often find her during quiet time (she takes it in my room) playing with my nail polishes and combs...
She started doing her own hair this year and while I prefert to do it when we go out, it gives her so much satisfaction that I don't redo it.
She doesn't sleep with her piggy every night anymore and that makes me a little sad.
Since school began she has read over 10 chapter books.
She has lost 3 teeth this year and is making the tooth fairy broke!
This year she has also mastered her splits all 3 ways and works so hard at her dancing!  Last weekend she got kicked in the face during dance rehearsal and didn't cry or make a scene.  She came out after her class with a huge red mark on her cheek and told me it really hurt.  She then danced for two more hours before we went home and she put ice on it.  She is such a tough girl!
She is extremely busy with girl scouts, dance, homeschool pe, weekly trips to the library and 1 day at 'school'.
She is going to be the little boy from Dr Who who says, "Are you my Mummy?" for Halloween and is excited that he is 'creepy.'
She is my biggest help around the house and works so hard.  She is mature beyond her years and such a joy in my life.  I love that she is my firstborn and that I get the privilege of watching her grow.  Happy 7th Birthday Baby Girl! Please, stop growing!!

I can't believe Kira is 7!  Where did the time go?

This year she got a surprise party and we pulled it off!  She had no idea.  It was perfect!  We had the party a week before her birthday so I'm sure that helped.
I sent her to dance class knowing that her friend Emma was bringing her home and staying for a sleepover.  When she got home all her little friends were hiding behind the couch and jumped up yelling 'surprise!'  She was beyond shocked.
The invite was a sleeping bag.

So surprised!

The girls then played the candy game, balloon games and freeze dance. (Requested by EVERY girl over and over again! - yes, all her friends that came were from dance. ;) )

Crazy hair after creating static electricy to make their balloons stick to the wall

Her party happened to fall on the night of the primary program practice, which couldn't be helped since the next few weeks were CRAZY busy, so Rora was gone for the beginning of the party.  Thanks to friends she was dropped off right as I was running out of games so we had cupcakes, did presents, played tigers (a game from my childhood), played hide and go seek in the dark and then turned on a movie before bed. (I did mention it was a sleepover, right?)

Naturally they didn't stay this way all night, but it was worth a shot!

The girls were up until almost midnight and naturally, when it gets that late with 5 extra girls in the house, on top of the 4 he always has around, Daddy tends to get a little crazy!
The girls were up again before 6:30, ate cinnamon pull aparts and peaches for breakfast and picked up at 8:30!  Only to see each other again starting at noon for dance (all of the girls are going to be in the Nutcracker and some of them are in all 4 dances with Kira, so they had 5 hours of dance!)  Kira went to bed exhausted that night, no surprise there!

Kira says, "My favorite part about my sleepover was when we got out the glow sticks and stayed up talking."  - yep, she's all girl! LOL!

And just to show how crazy I am, I want to remember how busy that week was!

I decided the Saturday before to have her party and due to a Wedding and other conflicts it HAD to be that weekend.  On Sunday I made the invitations and handed them out on Monday at Girl scouts and dance.  (All but 1 of the girls are in scouts with Kira...)  Wednesday was my birthday, Thursday I dropped Kira off at school (she does the REACH enrichment program so it's 1 day outside the house a week.  Then I dropped Rora off at preschool, ran to the store and got glow sticks (for party favors) and candy.  Came home and made cupcakes.  Ran to pick Rora up from preschool (while Josh, who is off on Thursdays, hid the cupcakes in the closet) came home and made lunch, Josh took Rora out to work on the RV while I made frosting and frosted the cupcakes, then I hid the cupcakes, cleaned up the evidence and picked Kira up from school.  On Friday I cleaned the house and was a stickler on the girls to make sure their room was clean, dropped Kira off at dance, dropped Rora off at the church and ran home to make sure I was there before the girls started to arrive. (They came 30 minutes before Kira.)  It was insane!  This was on top off our regular schedule of homeschool, preschool (thank goodness it wasn't my week to teach!) library trip, dance Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, oh, and attempting to keep up with my messy house!  BUT Kira had a great time and that's all that matters!
